The July 4 fireworks are almost here, but before the holiday festivities begin, let's set off some fireworks of our own in MLB. Here are my three favorite players to hit a home run on Monday's slate.
Martin Maldonado has gone yard only five times in 62 games this season, but he sure does love facing off against Martin Perez. In 23 career at-bats against the Texas Rangers starter, Maldonado is hitting .478 with a home run and three doubles. The +650 is well worth a sprinkle here.
Monday's matchup between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles couldn't be a better recipe for dingers. The wind will be blowing straight out at Yankee Stadium, creating a 29 percent boost to home runs (Ballpark Pal), and Orioles starter Tyler Wells has given up the third-most home runs in MLB this season (19). Anthony Rizzo has hit 10 of his 11 homers this year off right-handed pitching, so I think we're getting great value with this price.
The setup at Yankee Stadium Monday is too good to pass up, so let's double down with a juicier price. Billy McKinney has hit three home runs over the last two weeks to lead the team, and all three of them came off right-handed pitching. Wells is going to give up at least one home run in this one, so let's just hope it's one of our picks.
